Twenty years ago, Brad's dog was stolen from his backyard while he was at work. Devastated, Brad wanted to find ways of providing dogs a safer environment and spare other dog owners similar heartache. Thus he created the first Doggy Day Care in Vancouver, giving owners peace of mind while they were at work.

His next dog, Dez, came to the Doggy Day Care with him and helped out with the other dogs. Brad was fascinated by Dez’s interaction with the other dogs and their different personalities. He noted specific movements and how Dez, the Alpha dog, disciplined unruly dogs around her. He observed that when a dog was disciplined, it would only take one time – the dog would not repeat that same action. Dez made it quick and effective.

Brad studied other dogs, wolves and coyotes, and learned to copy the motions of the Alpha. He added his own body movements with the dogs in his care, reducing the need for verbal communication and solving many dog behavior problems that his clients were having.

He developed Street Safety Training to train other dog owners with his techniques and later envisioned a television show to promote these
